Okay, not really, but it feels like it! The closer my departure gets, the less excited I become. I had barely started unpacking from school before I had to start packing for the trip. It is so hard packing for a 9 week trip. The only bright side is that I know that I can always replenish my underpacked items by going on shopping sprees once I get there!
"You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone" Or maybe, until you know you're going to lose it, even if it is only temporarily. I always find a newfound appreciation for everything California has to offer in the few days before I leave. Last year, due to some plans being canceled, my last week before going to Taiwan was one of the best weeks of the entire summer. Whether it was Santa Monica or Santa Barbara, I spent every day out, up and down the PCH. In this case, I had less than a week between my last final and my flight. But I still had a few things on the agenda.
Berries for breakfast, Chipotle for lunch, grilled cheese for dinner. By the time I land in Taiwan, all I'll want is Chinese food!
Do: see the sunset on the beach (at this side of the Pacific), spend as much time as possible in my big comfy bed, have some sort of social interaction with friends that I haven't seen in forever, and who will be gone again once I get back, enjoy the perfect California weather, use my phone (bye data plan...).
Good rice. Street food. Cheap food.
Being in the city.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION THAT DOESN'T SUCK
Things I'm NOT looking forward to:
disgusting weather in general.
Living in a weird dorm.
Not having a data plan.
